Mayor Daley Welcomes Lego Kids Fest To Chicago

Mayor's Press Office    312.744.3334
Mayor Richard M. Daley today welcomed the LEGO KidsFest Tour to McCormick Place in Chicago. The three-day, interactive experience provides activities and information for families throughout Chicago.

“As I look out among the smiling faces of kids, I’m certain that there are future architects, engineers, designers and artists among the many children here today,” he said. “As they play and build, roam the Model Musuem or watch the demonstrations from LEGO Master Builders, it is obvious that their future will be fueled by their imagination.

The Mayor also thanked LEGO for providing 400 free tickets for Chicago Public School students with perfect attendance records.

“LEGO KidsFest offers families a great opportunity to be immersed in the world of LEGO fun,” said Vince Rubino, events manager, LEGO Systems, Inc. “The show offers a great mix of creative displays, hands-on activities and live demonstrations so that children of all ages will be entertained and inspired.”

LEGO KidsFest is one of several events that agreed to come to Chicago after legislation passed earlier this year by the Illinois General Assembly restructured operations at McCormick Place and Navy Pier.

“We've taken important steps to reform how we conduct our convention business, but we have to keep our momentum going,” Daley said.“We must think boldly when it comes to marketing, when it comes to providing services to and when it comes to the business practices of McCormick Place and Navy Pier.
