Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Bloomberg LP announced today that the inaugural Bloomberg Business Summit will be held in Chicago on November 20 and 21, 2013.
The Summit will bring together more than 250 chief executives of major corporations, leaders in finance, and senior policymakers from around the world to engage in forward-looking conversations about disruptive technologies, newly emerging markets, and trends to watch. They will also discuss corporate responsibility and how to sustain success in the current global economic climate. The two-day program will showcase the resources of Bloomberg Businessweek, Bloomberg Industries, and Bloomberg’s executive conference group, Bloomberg LINK, and it will focus on the outlook for key industry sectors including health care, consumer products, energy & industrials, and technology.
The Chicago Mayor’s office has pledged its support for the Summit as part of its ongoing engagement with the business community.
“My administration has been focused on engaging the business community in every fashion, with the goal of ensuring that people are continuing to invest in Chicago and create additional opportunity wherever possible,” said Mayor Rahm Emanuel. “It is therefore fitting that global business leaders will gather here and discuss ways to create more opportunities in the future. I am pleased that we will host the inaugural Bloomberg Summit in Chicago.”
“Under Mayor Emanuel’s leadership, Chicago has again become a vibrant example of how public and private-sector partnerships can provide a path for economic turnaround – the true transformation of a city. Bloomberg LP is proud to host our inaugural Business Summit in this innovative city, in collaboration with a Mayor who is getting results,” said Norman Pearlstine, Chairman, Bloomberg Businessweek, and Chief Content Officer, Bloomberg LP. “The Summit is part of Bloomberg LP's Industry Outlook, including a special issue of Bloomberg Businessweek and the first annual set of Bloomberg Industry Rankings, powered by exclusive Bloomberg data and analytics, looking at the world's most important companies the way investors and executives do – through an industry lens.”
With over 100 pages of editorial content, the special Bloomberg Businessweek Industry Outlook issue, to be published November 14, 2013, will give key decisionmakers across business, technology, finance, and government a competitive edge by offering them a look ahead at 2014 and connecting them to essential insights about the companies and industries most responsible for the world’s economies. The issue will include the release of the first annual set of proprietary Bloomberg Industry Rankings which will provide in-depth data on and analysis about the world’s most valuable companies in 50 industries.
