Mayor Rahm Emanuel called on the Illinois General Assembly to pass vital gaming legislation introduced today. He also renewed his vow to direct any and all revenue that is generated by a potential casino in Chicago toward modernizing Chicago’s neighborhood schools, as part of the city’s efforts to build a school district that gives the city’s students a high-quality education in every neighborhood and the best possible chance to realize their potential.

“Every child in every neighborhood deserves access to a high-quality education, and we are working to create a school district that supports a brighter future for our children. I have said repeatedly that if Chicago were to build a casino, all revenue would be directed toward modernizing schools in our neighborhoods and communities.  I encourage all parties in Springfield to take swift action on the gaming bill and, in so doing, create the opportunity for us to rebuild and renew our public education infrastructure in the city.”

The Mayor’s Office released a video today that underscores this call. You can view the video on the Mayor’s Office YouTube page here: http://youtu.be/CHd1yjD_VgU.
