"This bill would finally hold repeat gun offenders responsible for their crimes, and It is an important step to improving public safety in Chicago and Illinois, along with expanding alternatives to incarceration for first-time non-violent offenders, investing in economic development and strengthening social services. We want to thank Senator Kwame Raoul and Leader Jim Durkin for their leadership on moving the Safe Neighborhoods Reform Act forward, and encourage the Illinois Senate to send this legislation to the Governor to sign into law."
