"As a native Chicagoan, community theater has played a major role in shaping my passion for storytelling. Supporting Chicago theater and funding for arts education makes it possible for the community to be heard, and for the next generation of storytellers to impact the legacy of our culture." - Emmy Winner and Chicago native, Lena Waithe

Mayor Emanuel's budget would eliminate the amusement tax for concert and theater venues with 1,500 or fewer seats, and dedicate new funding to support youth arts education. The plan is made possible through an increase in the amusement tax on the largest venues in the city.
