Mayor Rahm Emanuel today visited the University of Michigan Ann Arbor as part of the 2018 ThinkChicago Roadshow, a national tour to connect innovative Chicago businesses with rising talent. Leading a delegation of Chicago technology companies, Mayor Emanuel met with students and university leadership to showcase Chicago’s fast-growing tech scene.

“The future of Chicago’s economy is driven by continuing to attract and retain top talent,” Mayor Emanuel said. “As students from across the country start to plan careers after college, Chicago offers them a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem to work in and unmatched cultural scene to enjoy.”

The ThinkChicago Roadshow brings Chicago’s technology and business leaders to visit top engineering, business and design schools across the country, showcasing career-building opportunities within Chicago’s vibrant innovation ecosystem. The Roadshow is part of the broader ThinkChicago program that unites top-tier students passionate about innovation and entrepreneurship to immerse them in Chicago’s tech scene. As Chicago becomes a global hub for innovation and technology, ThinkChicago attracts diverse, emerging talent and encourages students to live and work in Chicago after graduation.

“The ThinkChicago Roadshow has provided nearly 2,000 top engineering and business students the opportunity to meet with leading technology companies,” Alya Woods, Executive Director of ChicagoNEXT said. “We look forward to showcasing the promise of Chicago as a vibrant scene of innovation and opportunity through these university visits.”

“We’re excited to be a part of this important initiative to bring more engineering and business talent to our great city,” said Andrew Sieja, Founder and CEO of Relativity. “Programs like ThinkChicago are critical to the continued growth of not only our company, but the larger Chicago business community.”
