The Mayor’s ADA 25 Literacy Task Force Report

In 2015, the Chicago region came together to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities
Act by advancing initiatives that would promote the inclusion of people with disabilities. The ADA 25 Chicago  Steering Committee identified literacy achievement gaps for people with disabilities as a major barrier to participation in the workplace and in community life.  Mayor Rahm Emanuel agreed, and in November 2015 he attended the ADA 25 Chicago Disability Inclusion Opportunity Summit to announce the creation of a task force to improve literacy for children with disabilities.
