In late 1994 the Chicago City Council authorized the Department of Streets and Sanitation to issue "rat stoppage" tickets to property owners who allow exterior building conditions that provide harborage for rats. To report this sanitation code violation to the Department of Streets and Sanitation, please call 311 or click on the button below to submit a service request. The department will investigate this violation and issue tickets as needed.
These tickets require the owners to take corrective action within 15 days; failure to comply enables the City of Chicago to perform this work and bill the owner for any costs incurred.
Interior building conditions that are conducive to rodent infestations are under the sole jurisdiction of the Chicago Department of Buildings.
Both exterior and interior rat problems should be reported to city's request line at 3-1-1 or click on the button below to report it now!
