Chicago is home to over 400,000 students in Chicago Public Schools, over 600 public schools, and over 20 colleges and universities in Chicago alone.

The Chicago Department of Family and Support Services supports a variety of out-of-school time activities for young people ranging from after-school programs to mentoring opportunities and career development programs.
