CDOT: 2016 Bridge Trials Scheduled For March – In Advance Of Spring Bridges Lifts

CDOT announced that through the end of March, bridges over the Chicago River will be raised and lowered to ensure they are in working order. This is in preparation for the bridge lifts scheduled for weekends from mid-April through June. The following is the current schedule for daytime and weeknight closures to complete the bridge trials:

Weekday closures:

Dearborn Street Bridge – Thursday, March 24 from 9:30 am ‐ 2:30 pm

Harrison Street Bridge– Friday, March 25 from 9:30 am - 2:30 pm

State Street Bridge – Monday, March 28 from 9:30 am ‐ 2:30 pm

* Damen Avenue Bridge, Monday, March 28 from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Wabash Avenue Bridge – Tuesday, March 29 from 9:30 am ‐ 2:30 pm

Columbus Avenue Bridge – Wednesday, March 30 from 9:30 am ‐ 2:30 pm

Weeknight closure:

Michigan Avenue Bridge – Thursday, March 31 to Friday, April 1 from10:00 pm ‐ 5:00 am 

Lake Shore Drive Bridge– Thursday, March 31 to Friday April 1 from 10:00 pm - 2:00 am

Motorists should avoid these temporary closures and use alternate routes when possible.  For information about rail or bus changes, please visit transitchicago.com.

* Damen Avenue will require Rolling Curb Closures; all others will require Full Closures.
