The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) today announced that the 92nd Street Bridge will be closed to southbound traffic from August 1 through November 18. The project consists of removing and replacing the movable sidewalks’ deck grating and steel framing.

One lane for northbound vehicular traffic will remain open for the entire duration of construction. Southbound vehicular traffic will be detoured to S. Harbor Avenue southeast to S. Chicago Avenue and then east on 95th Street. The bridge will operate to accommodate river traffic.

Pedestrians and bicyclists will have access to one of the two sidewalks which will remain open for the entire duration of construction. While the bridge will remain open to bicycle traffic, bicyclists will be directed to walk their bikes on the sidewalk.
