Each year, the Jumping Jack Program delights children across Chicago. This inflatable playground, provided by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, is available for FREE and runs from Saturday, May 25 through Sunday, September 1, 2024.

Application Information

  • The Jumping Jack is limited to residential block parties within the Chicago city limits.
  • The 2024 Jumping Jack registration portal will open on Monday, April 15 at 8am.
  • The application is best completed on a computer using Google Chrome.
  • Applicant must reside on the block where the Block Party is taking place.
  • When completing the application, if all information is input correctly, the applicant will receive an immediate auto-reply confirmation message containing the request. If applicant does not receive the auto-reply message, the request WAS NOT received.
    • To avoid errors:
      • Be sure to manually fill in each of the boxes on the application; errors can occur when the fields auto-populate.
      • Please try putting a “.” (period) after the letter used to denote the street direction.
      • Press “SUBMIT” at the end of the application.
  • Units are available on Saturdays and Sundays only. Requests are typically highest on Saturdays – please consider Sundays.
  • Only one request per block, per season will be honored. Multiple requests from the same block will be denied.
  • If the incorrect date is selected in error, applicant MUST email JumpingJack@cityofchicago.org for further instruction. Last minute date changes will not be honored.
  • Requests are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Requests must be made through the Registration Portal – emails will not be accepted.
  • Applicants MUST complete the Block Party Permit Information Form and receive a permit from their Alderman’s office in order to hold a Block Party. More information online.

 

General Rules

1. Inflatables will only be provided to residential block parties within the Chicago city limits. Events on private property, in parks, in forest preserves, at schools, libraries or churches, private parties, birthday parties and festivals are not eligible to apply.

2. Applicants will receive notification by email on the status of their request. The Jumping Jack provider will also contact the applicant by email during the week of the event to confirm delivery location and on-site contact.

3. Approved block parties will receive one (1) inflatable for four (4) hours on the approved day. The inflatable will arrive between the hours of 10am and 1pm and will be picked up between the hours of 2pm and 6pm. The Jumping Jack provider cannot accommodate specific time requests or deliver/pick-up outside of the times listed above.

4. Inflatables are for outdoor use only.

5. Inflatables can only be set up on pavement, asphalt, or concrete.

6. Inflatables will not be set up during inclement weather (rain, drizzle, etc.).

7. The applicant will be required to provide a Driver's License or State ID and designate an adult to sign for the inflatable upon arrival, else inflatable WILL NOT be delivered. ANY damages to the unit during use will be charged to the applicant.

8. Generators are not provided. It is the responsibility of the requesting party to supply electrical power (120 watts) to operate the inflatable within 100 feet of the inflatable.

9. The Jumping Jack provider must be able to drive directly to the set-up site. The inflatable cannot be transported manually. If the site is not accessible by vehicle, services will not be rendered.

10. All parked vehicles must be removed from the location of the inflatable at or prior to the time of delivery. Applicants are responsible for securing all necessary street closure permits from the Aldermanic Office in the applicant’s ward.
