Near South Community Plan

Near South Community Plan cover

The "Near South Community Plan" serves as a guide to future development of the South Loop and Near South communities by recommending future land use, open space and transportation improvements.

Adopted by the Chicago Plan Commission in May 2004, the plan provides development goals and projections for a two-square-mile area between Congress Parkway, Lake Shore Drive, the South Branch of the Chicago River and the Stevenson Expressway (I-55), not including Grant Park or the Chinatown area southwest of Cermak Road and Clark Street.

Residents, business owners, land owners and interested members of the public are invited to review and comment on the final draft of the plan.
