40th/State TIF

Designation: 2004    Repealed: 2013

Designed to support the Chicago Housing Authority's transformation of the Robert Taylor Homes public housing complex as a mixed-income residential community, the 40th/State TIF district provides financial leverage for various infrastructure improvements while supporting job training and readiness programs for local residents. Priorities include neighborhood recreational facilities and parks, employment centers, streetscape projects, and other public uses. The district's 14 acres include portions of the Douglas and Grand Boulevard communities where private investment is poised to return through the coordinated growth of an attractive, pedestrian-scale community.
