Chatham Ridge TIF

Designation: 1986    Expiration: 2010

Characterized at the time of its designation by a blighted warehouse and numerous parcels of vacant and underutilized land, the Chatham-Ridge TIF district was created to foster new shopping and residential opportunities. Specific priorities included the replacement of the warehouse with a shopping complex and the creation of mixed-income single-family homes. Located on the western portion of the Chatham community, the district was later expanded to 119 acres to foster additional residential improvements and to assist with the rehabilitation and expansion of a local school. Funds from the district are allocated for property assembly and public works improvements, rehabilitation efforts, and other eligible costs.
