CHICAGO - Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced today that Huron Consulting Group has committed to adding 400 to 600 jobs to its Chicago headquarters office over the next three years, expanding the total number of jobs the Mayor has announced during his Administration to more than 15,000.

“Huron’s expansion in Chicago is another outstanding example of the commitment that companies are making to this city, based on our world-class workforce and dynamic business community,” said Mayor Emanuel. “I am focused on making Chicago the most business-friendly city in the world, and helping companies like Huron expand into global players in key industries is central to this strategy.”

“Huron is proud to be headquartered in Chicago, and we are pleased to join the Mayor today in announcing our commitment to expand our presence in Chicago,” said James H. Roth, Chief Executive Officer and President, Huron Consulting Group. “Chicago is an ideal city from which to operate a global business like ours, and the city is a major benefit in recruiting top-level talent. We have extremely talented people within the Company, and their dedication to client service and to the communities in which we live makes Huron – and Chicago – a great place to work.”

Huron Consulting Group (NASDAQ:HURN) is a leading provider of business consulting services with a portfolio of service offerings focused on helping hospital, research institution, Fortune 500, and corporate law department clients address complex business challenges. The Company has three operating segments: Health and Education Consulting, Legal Consulting, and Financial Consulting.

Huron helps clients in diverse industries improve performance, comply with complex regulations, reduce costs, recover from distress, leverage technology, and stimulate growth. The Company teams with its clients to deliver sustainable and measurable results. Huron provides services to a wide variety of both financially sound and distressed organizations, and has worked with more than 90 of the top 100 research universities, more than 275 Corporate General Counsel, and more than 350 hospitals and academic medical centers.

Headquartered in Chicago, Huron recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary by providing time off for its employees to support local community organizations across the globe. Chicago organizations included the Chicago Public Schools, Boys & Girls Club of Chicago, and Greater Chicago Food Depository.  Huron was founded in 2002 with 200 people and has grown to 2,000 today. Since inception, the Company’s revenues have grown from $35.1 million in 2002 to $606.3 million in 2011. In 2011, Huron served more than 800 clients, including nearly 200 new clients. Huron was also named as one of the Best Firms to Work For in 2011 by Consulting magazine.

In the Plan for Economic Growth and Jobs that was released earlier this year, attraction and expansion of corporate headquarters was a key goal, as was extending the City’s leadership in the professional services space. This announcement is relevant to both of those goals.

Today is the 25th jobs-expansion announcement Mayor Emanuel has made since taking office, totaling more than 15,000 positions.
