Mayor Emanuel issued today a statement on Los Angeles' decision to take legal action against the Trump Justice Department.

“Yesterday Los Angeles became the latest city to follow Chicago's lead and challenge the unlawful restrictions the Trump Justice Department is placing on critical public safety funding. As Chicago, San Francisco, and the US Conference of Mayors have made clear, American cities will not accept the Trump administration’s unconstitutional attempt to force a false choice between our public safety and our values. Chicago will always uphold the constitution, defend our residents, and remain a beacon of hope for immigrants, refugees and dreamers from around the world.”
