Administrative Hearings

The Department of Administrative Hearings (DOAH) is an independent quasi-judicial body that adjudicates violations of the Municipal Code of Chicago. Attorneys from the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection (BACP) serve as prosecutors for matters related to businesses licensed by the City of Chicago, as well as violations of the City’s Consumer Fraud ordinance. BACP citations are adjudicated in Room 106 and Room 107 at DOAH, 400 W. Superior. Additionally, BACP has set up a remote adjudication process that allows anyone issued an Administrative Notice of Violation (ANOV) that is scheduled for hearing in Room 106 or Room 107 to attempt to resolve their matter remotely, without appearing in person at DOAH.
