A field house at North Center's Revere Park will be renovated through a $200,000 Tax Increment Financing (TIF) agreement approved today by the Chicago City Council.

The funds will be used by the Chicago Park District to make access and roof improvements to the park's "Boys and Girls Club."  Dating to about 1960, the one-story building is used for indoor recreational activities, community events and group programs.

"By keeping the building structurally viable and making it more accessible for handicapped and mobility-impaired visitors, the assistance is an investment in the future of the park and it's important role in the community," Mayor Daley said.

Revere Park, located at Rockwell Avenue and Irving Park Road, dates to 1921. Its recreational amenities include four ball fields, walking paths, tennis courts and a playground.

The TIF assistance will be allocated from the Western Avenue South TIF district. TIF is a City of Chicago funding tool that's used to promote infrastructure and other improvements in designated districts across the city.
