This summer, DCASE is pleased to present the Millennium Park Summer Film Series, presented by Pluto TV, on Tuesdays from July 16 through August 20. Films start at 6:30pm (with the exception of the double feature starting at 6pm).

Guests may take a seat at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion or lounge on the Great Lawn as crowd-pleasing movies are presented on the state-of- the-art, 40-foot LED screen.

In partnership with the Chicago Alliance of Film Festivals (CAFF), each screening will also showcase one of the many independent film festivals that are a part of Chicago’s vibrant film community.

Highlighting the 60th anniversary of Chicago International Film Festival

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

Directed by Steven Speilberg, this film tells the story of Elliott, a boy who befriends an extraterrestrial, dubbed E.T., who is left behind on Earth. Along with his friends and family, Elliott must find a way to help E.T. find his way home.

 

Jurassic Park

Jurassic Park(127 minutes, PG-13)

In Steven Spielberg's massive blockbuster that launched a franchise, paleontologists Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler, and mathematician Ian Malcolm are among a select group chosen to tour an island theme park populated by dinosaurs created from prehistoric DNA. While the park's mastermind, billionaire John Hammond, assures everyone that the facility is safe, they find out otherwise when various ferocious predators break free and go on the hunt.

Highlighting the 30th anniversary of Black Harvest Film Festival

Nominated for five Academy Awards, Cord Jefferson's hilarious directorial debut confronts our culture's obsession with reducing people to outrageous stereotypes. Jeffrey Wright stars as Monk, a frustrated novelist who's fed up with the establishment profiting from "Black" entertainment that relies on tired and offensive tropes. To prove his point, Monk uses a pen name to write his own outlandish "Black" book--that propels him into the heart of hypocrisy and the madness he claims to disdain.

Highlighting the 40th anniversary of Chicago International Childrens Film Festival

Starring Timothée Chalamet, this 2023 musical fantasy film tells the origin story of Willy Wonka, a character in the 1964 novel "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by Roald Dahl, depicting his early days as an innovative chocolatier.

Highlighting the upcoming 20th anniversary year of Midwest Film Festival

This beloved classic film tells the story of high school student Ferris Bueller and his sophisticated plan to play hooky for the day from school. He talks his friend Cameron and his girlfriend Sloane into heading to Chicago for the day. While they are taking in what the city has to offer, school principal Ed Rooney is hell-bent to catch him. Ferris has anticipated that, much to Rooney's chagrin.
