With Northerly Island concerts today and tomorrow, the Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) is urging the public to abide by the traffic measures on the Lakefront for everyone’s benefit and also to take precautions for the extreme heat expected today and tomorrow.  National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory in effect today, August 10 through 7 p.m. and Wednesday noon to 7 p.m.  Those attending the concert should be prepared for extreme temperatures and should stay hydrated.  Also, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for Chicago until 10 p.m. tonight. Be prepared to seek shelter. 

Traffic Control Aides (TCAs) will be on hand to direct flow and impacts.  Please heed their instructions.  Ride share operators have been instructed not to drop off riders on DuSable Lake Shore Drive, but rather at the designated locations.  Pedestrians are cautioned to use the underpass to access Northerly Island and should not attempt to cross DuSable Lake Shore Drive.  

Lindsey Stirling Concert – Tuesday, August 10 

American violinist Lindsey Stirling presents choregraphed violin performances at Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island at 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, August 10.  Gates open at 5:30 p.m.  

Jason Mraz – Wednesday, August 11 

American guitarist, singer and songwrite, Jason Mraz, will be performing on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m. 

Weather 

OEMC advises fans to be aware of weather conditions and to follow instructions and heed all warnings from public safety officials. Stay hydrated – drink lots of water, AVOID alcohol, caffeine, sodas. Wear loose, light, cotton clothing. In addition to extreme heat today and tomorrow, the National Weather Service has forecasted the possibility of showers and thunderstorms.

As always, be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowds and report any suspicious criminal activity to 9-1-1 or report to onsite security.
