President Approves Illinois Disaster Declaration - Deadline to Apply is October 30

President Joe Biden signed the Disaster Declaration for individual assistance for residents of Chicago and Cook County who sustained probable damage directly related to the July 2, 2023, flash flood will be eligible to apply for Individual Assistance.

Residents and business owners who sustained losses in the designated areas can begin applying for assistance at www.disasterassistance.gov, by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362), or by using the FEMA App. Anyone using a relay service, such as video relay service (VRS), captioned telephone service or others, can give FEMA the number for that service.

Additional information and direction will be provided. In the meantime:

  • Make sure you have contacted your insurance company.
  • You can still apply if you are underinsured or have no insurance.
  • Keep and save all your documentation.
